No matter how safe Sam felt, he never managed to be a sound sleeper. It took him forever to learn how to sleep with Jess next to him, and even then, all it took was the slightest odd creak in the apartment for his eyes to fly open and alert.

He glanced over his shoulder, checking to see if Jess was still sleeping next to him, before pushing to his feet and quietly making his way into the apartment. Months have living there had taught him where all the noisy areas of the apartment are, and he skirts around them, heading towards the source of the sound and whoever was there.
